Southeastern University student health plan
Nationally, health problems are reported as the biggest reason why students drop out of college.
To keep Southeastern students as healthy as possible, the university mandates that full-time, traditional undergraduate students have health insurance. This requirement pertains to students whose studies begin during or after the 2008-2009 school year.
Students who do not provide proof that they have health insurance that provides at least $50,000 in benefits are automatically enrolled into Southeastern’s student plan. Students enrolled in Southeastern graduate, online, Evening and Weekend, and ministerial credentialing (The Academy) programs can opt to enroll in the health plan.
The plan, provided by United Healthcare, includes the following:
- 100% coverage of medical expenses for procedures performed by in-network healthcare providers, up to $100,000 for each injury or sickness (80% coverage of medical expenses for procedures performed by out-of-network providers, up to $100,000 for each injury or sickness)
- $150 deductible for in-network providers ($250 deductible for out-of-network providers)
- 100% reimbursement on prescriptions after a $15 co-payment for each prescription, up to $750 each year
- Scholastic Emergency Services: U.S. students are eligible for services when traveling 100 miles from their home or Southeastern’s campus. International students are eligible for services worldwide, except in their home countries
- Ability to speak to a nurse 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week to receive health advice and information through My NurseLine: (800) 883-2951
- Online access to information about health insurance plan at www.UHCSR.com — students can print a health insurance ID card, locate in-network doctors, review dates in which they received coverage, and check when medical bills have been paid by United Healthcare.
New, full-time, traditional students that have existing insurance coverage equal to Southeastern's health plan may opt-out of this plan by submitting a waiver form by August 1 (for fall semester) or December 1 (for spring semester) to avoid being enrolled into Southeastern’s health plan and billed for the health care premium.

- Login using your student ID and password
- Select the "HOUSING" tab.
- Scroll down to waiver form.
Health care premium
- $1,250 for coverage from August 14, 2008 through August 13, 2009
