Southeastern’s film program prides itself in hands-on training and personal attention from dedicated faculty and staff. The Film Production Camps can be taken individually or combined. These intensive camps introduce the student to the basics of screenwriting and film production.
Subjects covered include:
Week One: Screenwriting
• Secrets of good storytelling
• Creating compelling characters
• Proper screenplay structure
• Business of film
Week Two: Film Production
• Lighting for film
• Cinematography
• Directing
• Editing
Students have the opportunity to work with digital film equipment and test their skills on- and off-screen. The best short-film screenplays written during the first week will be filmed and edited during the second week and shown for the other camps the last night. Upon successful completion of the camp, students may earn one hour of elective college credit per week and are given a digital copy of their final production work. Recreational experiences will include trips to area theme parks and various themed activities and dinners.
