In the past, information technology simply meant computers. Today, the technologies of networking, e-commerce, and distributed databases are revolutionizing the information technology field. Information technology has moved away from being a support mechanism to automate processes, to becoming an enabler to give organizations the leading edge to compete in the marketplace.

At Southeastern, our business faculty understand that information technology touches virtually every facet of an organization and that managing an information technology system today is vastly different from managing data-processing and information systems of the past. With the convergence of computing, telephones and communications, video, printing, and reproduction services, information technology plays an important role in supporting the quality and effectiveness of management decision-making.

As knowledge continues to expand, doubling in some fields every few years, the content of some educational programs become obsolete in the blink of an eye. However, the perspectives provided by a Christ-centered liberal arts education are lasting in value.

Southeastern’s management information systems program begins with our Christ-centered liberal arts (general education) core curriculum, where you develop an understanding and appreciation of God and His creation, human creativity and reason, and our place of responsibility as stewards in the world God has made.

Within the management information systems major itself, our approach to the subject is current and interactive, so that you have the practical expertise you need to succeed in the day-to-day operations of your chosen business environment. And because our approach is also biblical, you gain a deep understanding of the moral and ethical implications of the decisions you make as a technology professional–and as a Christian.

With information technology rapidly transforming the workplace to facilitate greater mobility and the centralization of communications and running businesses more efficiently, the demand for topnotch IT professionals will further increase.
