RANDY'S STORY

It was at Southeastern that mega-church pastor Randy Valimont learned that there is one thing greater than faith: trust… >>

Southeastern Singers

Flowing seamlessly between gospel, Contemporary Christian and all musical points between, the Southeastern Singers choir faithfully leads students, staff and guests into worship at Southeastern. This 35-voice group grew out of Southeastern President Dr. Mark Rutland’s vision for a premier traveling choir that uses a variety of musical styles to represent the enthusiasm and versatility of our university. Through a regular schedule of prayer, practice, worship, and touring, this group challenges students to grow in music, ministry and character.

CHARISMA, NEW ORDER, AND THE SOUND
Students audition to be part of Southeastern Singers and receive $250 to $1,500 scholarships at the end of each semester for participation. Members of the choir also may audition to be part of smaller, student-led singing groups Charisma and New Order. The Sound, the name of the eight- to 10-piece band that accompanies Southeastern Singers, Charisma, and New Order, usually includes of a keyboardist, guitarists, a bassist, an organ/synthesizer player, a percussionist, a drummer, and a saxophonist, but the group's instrumentation can vary based upon the musicians who audition each semester.

Southeastern Singers, which occasionally accompanies Dr. Rutland on his speaking engagements, has ministered at churches and events in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and other states. The choir has produced two CDs since 2003 and also has been featured on television on The Inspiration Networks and Trinity Broadcasting Network. A new CD and DVD featuring the music of Southeastern Singers is due out in 2006.
