The Raw TV story

RAWTVRAW TV, is a live, student-produced, television talk show that targets young adults. The mission of RAW TV is to openly discuss relevant issues and topics with its guests.

Formerly known as The Real Deal, the show was created by Southeastern University alumnus Lon Jordan. Jordan desired to see more positive shows on television. His dream was to produce top-quality entertainment through a talk show for young adults from the ages of 18 to 25. This was the birth of The Real Deal. Jordan produced and hosted the show for two-and-a-half years and decided that since he would soon graduate, he would pass the torch to student James Walls. Walls then took the show in the spring of 2006 and continued Jordan’s legacy of The Real Deal, adding a few alterations of his own.

After the spring of 2006, Walls changed the name of the show to RAW TV. RAW TV stands for "Real And Willing Television." Walls has a passion and desire to see this day and age prosper. He believes that this dying generation is searching for something “Real,” and the only way for the generation to find it is if someone is "Willing" to share the Truth. RAW TV is a show that addresses topics that grip youths, such as drugs, relationships, career choices, and media.

Walls continued hosting and producing RAW TV until his last season in the fall of 2006. Walls passed the torch to then-associate producer Caleb Kinchlow. As the new host and producer of the show, Kinchlow went in search of a co-host; he found two: students Sarah J. Alessi and Corrie Goldsmith. They all began their first season in the spring of 2007.

As RAW TV continued to progress, Walls began to meet up with a few networks that where in search for a new show for younger adults. As a result of the network shopping, John Pierce, the advisor and chair of Southeastern's communication department, received a phone call from two major networks. Pierce then teamed up with Southeastern University for financial support, a relationship which enabled RAW TV to sign with the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Network.
