SEASON REVIEW 2007 After a tough 2006 season in which the Lady Fire did not make the NCCAA II National Tournament, SEU bounced back in 2007 to finish third in the nation, tying the school’s previous best finish, which was in 2004. SEU had eight freshmen on this year’s squad and will graduate only three seniors before next season. Two of those seniors, Sarah Maus and Stacy Troyer, have left their legacies in the Southeastern volleyball record books. Maus graduates as the program’s all-time leader in digs and was named a Second Team All-American in 2006. Troyer leaves SEU as the program’s all-time leader in assists and was named an NCCAA II All-American in 2005 and 2007. Troyer set the school record for assists in a season in 2005, and then broke her own record in 2007 with 1,773 assists. However, it is the youth of this year's strong team that lays the foundation for the future of Southeastern volleyball, along with Coach Terry Thomas’ ability to continue his good recruiting. Freshman Casey Jensen led the Lady Fire with 655 kills in 2007, which is a new school record for kills in a single season. Jensen was also named First Team All-Region and First Team All-American and played in 161 games for SEU, a team high this season. Jensen dominated all year long, and out of seven tournaments she played in this season, Jensen was named to the all-tournament team six times. Another freshman, Heather Johnson, was second on the team in kills and aces, tallying 386 kills and 51 aces and being named Second Team All-Region. Sophomore Kristen Ledlow was third on the team with 360 kills, while freshman Kristy Bailey added 290 kills and 391 digs on the year. Junior Brittany Braly was second on the team with 418 digs, while also adding 145 kills, 30 aces, and 32 assists. Southeastern finished the year with 25 wins, which is the second most victories in a single season for the Lady Fire.
