Dowis signs three new players

Lady Fire Tennis Coach Brian Dowis signed three new players recently at a signing party in the Southeastern Sportsplex.

Dowis, along with Southeastern Athletics Director Duane Aagaard, welcomed Emily Woda, Wendy Reade, and Chelsey Lynn to the Lady Fire tennis program.

Woda will be a true freshman in the fall, but she has played varsity tennis at Boca Raton Christian High School for six seasons. She brings an undefeated record over the past two years and was named her school's Female Athlete of the Year for 2010.

Reade will also be a true freshman this upcoming season, coming from First Coast Christian School in Jacksonville. She played two years in the YMCA Tennis Academy and was her high school's valedictorian.

The prize of this year's class is junior college transfer Chelsey Lynn. Lynn played the past two seasons at Florida State College of Jacksonville, where she went a perfect 18-0 in singles play as a freshman. She helped win the 2008 NJCAA doubles national championship for the No. 3 position, while also being named an NJCAA First Team All-American.

Last season, Lynn enjoyed even more success as she made it to the NJCAA National Semifinals in singles play for the No. 4 position. She also was a national finalist in doubles play and was named an NJCAA Second Team All-American.

These young women make it clear that they are excited to be a part of Southeastern University, making an impact with their tennis and their faith.
