fire joins sun conference in 2009

The Southeastern men's soccer team will join the NAIA's Sun Conference in 2009.

The Fire will play a full Sun Conference schedule while also playing a full NCCAA D-II South Region schedule, competing in the NCCAA for the last time in program history.

Southeastern opens the season with a home game versus Savannah College of Art and Design. The game marks the first meeting between both schools in men's soccer.

Fire Head Coach Drew Stacey returns 12 players from last year's team that went 13-5-3 and won its third straight NCCAA II South Region title. Stacey is 73-32-5 in five seasons at Southeastern and helped guide the Fire to the school's first ever national championship in soccer back in 2006.
