Steve phelps takes over reigns of fire golf program


Southeastern welcomes Steve Phelps as the new men's golf coach.

Coach Phelps brings 15 years of experience in the golf profession and is extremely excited to be at Southeastern University.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of a very successful athletics program here at Southeastern University," said Phelps on being named Fire Head Coach. "The spiritual culture of Southeastern was the biggest draw for coming here, and to be able to coach golf was the ultimate bonus.”

The Fire returns four players from last year's team and will join the NAIA's Sun Conference this season.

Southeastern will compete in four tournaments this fall, including the 2009 NCCAA National Tournament in Panama City, Fla. Southeastern won the NCCAA National Tournament in 2007 and will look to improve on a fifth place finish in 2008.
