The National Player of the Year, Matt Braly, watches a

double he crushed to the centerfield wall in the championship

Jon Cunha allowed no runs and struck out 13 batters in his only

start of the 2008 NCCAA II National Tournament. Cunha was also

named the 2008 South Region Pitcher of the Year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Marcos Arias was named the 2008 NCCAA II National Tournament's

Most Valuable Player. Arias went 6-for-13 with five runs and seven

RBIs for the tournament.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

From a red-shirt freshman in 2007 to a First Team All-American in 2008,

Kyle Petrick's star has risen quickly.  He was also second on the Fire in

hitting this season.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Edwin McPhee brings tremendous speed to the Fire catching

position. As a pinch runner, McPhee scored the winning run in the 2008

national championship game.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Senior David Moskovits was named a 2008 First Team All-American.

He leaves SEU as the school's all-time leader in runs, walks, and hit-

by-pitches.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Senior Russ Steinhorn showed his versatility in 2008. Steinhorn

moved from being a starting pitcher the past three seasons to being a

valuable utility man for Coach Beck. Steinhorn batted .347 in 2008.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sophomore Tyler Ruehlman was named a First Team All-American

playing centerfield for the Fire. Ruehlman had two hits

in the Fire's championship victory over Hillsdale Free Will Baptist.
