COACHES HEAD COACH: DEBORAH BECK
In 2008, Coach Beck helped guide the Fire cheerleading team to the program's first-ever CCA National Championship, the program's first national championship in cheerleading. In 2009, proving that last year's success was no fluke, the Fire repeated as CCA National Champions in Concord, N.C., under Coach Beck's leadership. The Southeastern Cheerleaders won the school's only national championship in the 2008-2009 season. Beck joined the Fire coaching staff in 2005 and took the Fire to the program's first national competition, in which Southeastern finished in second place overall. In 2007, she took the cheerleading team back to nationals and helped guide the team to another second place finish overall, helping build an early record of consistency and quality in the cheerleading program. Coach Beck came to Southeastern University from Nyack College, in Nyack, New York. There, she worked for Nyack as an NCAA Division II compliance officer and as the Assistant Athletic Director. Having also co-coached the cheerleading program for Nyack for six seasons, Beck is ecstatic to be a part of building the cheerleading program for Southeastern Athletics, and she jumped at the chance to do so when the opportunity presented itself. "I can't think of better people to work with than cheerleaders, especially Christian cheerleaders. What a perfect job!" said Coach Beck. "When I learned that I would be moving to Florida, I secretly became one of the squad's biggest fans! Little did they know I was having them videotaped and was regularly watching their game tapes," added Coach Beck. Coach Deb Beck is married to Jason Beck, who is the baseball coach here at Southeastern. They have two children: Gavin and Kelsey. |
