Homeschool Applicants
As a homeschooled student, you likely benefited from an education tailored to your needs and learning style, yet you were free to pursue other academic, athletic and cultural interests at home, in the community or via a homeschool group. At Southeastern, we respect the unique gifts you’ll bring to our campus. Our small class sizes create a student-centered atmosphere that permits our professors to understand who you are as thinker. The combination of our liberal arts core curriculum and our wide array of majors will both stimulate your intellect and equip you for the career to which God has called you. And besides professional preparation, student groups and teams provide Southeastern students with opportunities to fellowship, compete and minister to others.
Admission Requirements for Homeschooled Freshman Applicants:
We have found homeschoolers to be high academic achievers with a mature faith. Nearly all homeschoolers who have enrolled have been very successful in their Southeastern experience. About 10% of Southeastern students were homeschooled.
Since many homeschoolers do not study under the umbrella of a local school district or a homeschooling agency, Southeastern permits you to create a transcript of your high school course work. Transcripts should include all courses taken in grades 9 through 12 as well as final grades. Although not required, you also may want to submit a portfolio. A portfolio typically includes a brief description of the courses you have completed and sample copies of work, such as a research paper or project, which best reflects your abilities.
The academic recommendation should be completed by an individual who has observed your academic and personal progress, such as a tutor, former teacher or friend, or an employer. Academic recommendations should not be completed by a relative. Homeschooled students also should complete the Application for Admission.
