Biography
Before coming to Southeastern, Dr. Waddell served as an assistant professor of New Testament at Patten University in Oakland, CA, and as the director of the Church of God Theological Seminary West. Prior to these positions, Dr. Waddell was the College Pastor and Director of the Master’s Commission at the North Cleveland Church of God. While in Cleveland, Robby also taught for the Church of God Theological Seminary and Lee University.

Dr. Waddell’s Ph.D. dissertation, The Faithful Witness of a Pneumatic Church: The Role of the Spirit in the Apocalypse of John, was revised and published in 2006 as The Spirit of the Book of Revelation by Deo Publishing in the Journal of Pentecostal Theology Supplement Series.

Dr. Waddell agrees with Bernard of Clairvaux that “the one who understands truth without loving it, or loves without understanding, possesses neither one nor the other.” He strives to integrate this love and understanding in his classes by learning from and listening to his students, leading them by example in how to seek the truth with both courage and compassion.

Dr. Waddell teaches the following courses: New Testament Survey, Christian Spirituality, Introduction to Biblical Languages, Biblical Hermeneutics, Life of Christ, Gospel of John, I and II Corinthians, Romans, Revelation, Apologetics, and Introduction to Philosophy. His research interests are apocalyptic literature, hermeneutics, literary theory, spirituality, and Pentecostal theology.
