Biography
In close to a decade of service as president of Southeastern, Dr. Mark Rutland has led the university to a place of spiritual and financial vitality. Along the way, he has also shaped it into a beautiful campus with a growing national profile as a forum for Christian leadership.  Dr. Rutland also currently serves as president of Global Servants, Inc., through which he has founded ministries in Ghana and Thailand.  One such ministry, the House of Grace home for tribal girls in Chiang Rai, Thailand, was founded in 1988 and houses over 100 girls.

Dr. Rutland’s thirty-minute daily radio program, Herald of Joy, is heard in multiple markets. He is also a member of the board of directors for the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce and for Compassion Alliance. He is the author of thirteen books:  Launch Out into the Deep, The Finger of God, Hanging by a Thread, Behind the Glittering Mask, Streams of Mercy, God of the Valleys, Nevertheless, Dream, Character Matters, Power, Holiness, Resurrection, and, most recently, Most Likely to Succeed.

Dr. Rutland is perpetually excited by the potential of Southeastern students to change the world in every area—social, political, business, and spiritual—and he seizes every opportunity to communicate that vision and that passion to the students and, really, to anyone else who will listen.

Besides the teaching he does regularly in chapel, Dr. Rutland is the lead teacher in the Executive Cohort of the Master of Arts in Ministerial Leadership.
