Biography
Dr. Brittany McConchie brings to Southeastern extensive research experience and a desire to infect students with the love of learning. While she was still a master’s and doctoral student, Dr. McConchie was already serving as assistant to the administrator of the Summer Honors Program in Medicine as well as a laboratory assistant for the medical student microbiology course from 1997-2003.

Afterwards, Dr. McConchie completed two post-doctoral fellowships. Her first post-doctoral fellowship, at the National Institutes of Health in Md. (2003-2005), focused on allergies and inflammation. Her second post-doctoral fellowship was conducted at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla., (2005-2006) and focused on natural killer cells and their role in cancer. Both of these research experiences strengthened Dr. McConchie’s inquisitive nature and sharpened her research skills to pursue the answers to those constant questions, contributing to her desire to instill that same curiosity and skill set in her students at Southeastern. She wants her students here to know that anything is possible once they set their minds to the task at hand, and she makes herself available, not only as a teacher but also as a friend and mentor, to accomplish that goal with each student.

Dr. McConchie teaches the following courses: Microbiology, Life Science, Advanced Human Anatomy and Physiology, Histology, and Biochemistry. Her main research interests are in the fields of immune function and inflammatory processes.
