Biography
Irv Ziemann began his teaching career in a Wisconsin high school, serving in the areas of history, English, and journalism. He was then awarded successive Fullbright grants to teach English as a second language in Greece. Next, after a stint teaching English and classical Greek at Greenville College, he began his long career at Southeastern. At first teaching mainly English and journalism classes, Ziemann added Hebrew and Greek language courses after completing his second MA. He has done additional study at several different colleges, including Wheaton College, in French, German, English, Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic.

Ziemann is passionate about languages and has produced not only his own textbooks and CDs/cassettes for Introduction to Biblical Languages but also his own textbook for Intermediate Greek.

Though Ziemann has been teaching at Southeastern for more than 30 years, longer than any other current faculty member, he is still the eternal student. For this reason, he has especially enjoyed participating in the team-taught "meeting" series class, which has allowed him not only to teach Macbeth and Antigone but also to learn more about the historical and theatrical aspects of those plays.

In addition to this multidisciplinary class, Ziemann teaches various literature classes like Intro to Shakespeare and Major British Authors and language classes in Greek and Hebrew. His major academic interests are in Koine Greek, translation issues in the New Testament, and various aspects of English literature.
