Biography
Dr. Tracey Tedder brings abundant and varied experience to her classes as she prepares Southeastern students for their careers in education. She has served as a K-12 classroom teacher, a guidance and reading-resource teacher, a district teacher-recruiting specialist, and a school-based administrator. Dr. Tedder is certified in early childhood education, elementary education, and educational leadership. In addition, she has been recognized as a Polk County Public Schools Southwest Area Teacher of the Year, Social Studies Teacher of the Year, and Top Ten District Teacher of the Year.

Dr. Tedder has also been awarded the Southeastern University Excellence in Advising Award, which speaks of her personal involvement with her students. She is also the Director of Clinical Education, giving her oversight of the student teacher program. In this capacity, also, her personal involvement with Southeastern’s student teachers gives them an experienced, listening ear as they learn how to teach the next generation of students.

Dr. Tedder teaches Introduction to Education, Elementary Classroom Management, Middle and Secondary Classroom Management, Methods of Teaching Elementary Social Studies, and Methods of Teaching Middle and Secondary Social Science. Her research interests include ethics in education, leadership in education, educational assessment, and the impact of non-traditional learning environments, the latter study being conducted currently for submission to the American Educational Research Association.
