Biography
Before coming to Southeastern, John Pierce worked professionally as an actor and director in such venues as the Old Lyric Rep, Logan, Utah; The Old Creamery Theatre Company, Amana, Iowa; Playhouse on the Square, Memphis, Tennessee; ArtPark, Lewiston, New York; Cumberland County Playhouse, Crossville, Tennessee; and New Stage Theatre Company, Jackson, Mississippi. He is a member of the Actor's Equity Association.

Pierce tries to communicate to his students that all truth is God’s truth, that acting, just like every other subject, was created by God for His glory. He believes that God is the consummate artist and is so merciful that He shares His creativity with His children. At Southeastern, Pierce says, he has the opportunity to share his love for the performing arts in a Christ-centered environment and to influence His Kingdom through that love.

Pierce has directed many productions, such as Into the Woods, Harvey, Camelot, Macbeth, Annie Get Your Gun, Charley’s Aunt, Fiddler on the Roof, Forever Plaid, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Fantasticks, Our Town, and A Christmas Carol. He has also acted many productions, including I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change; Smoke on the Mountain; Cotton Patch Gospel; Macbeth; A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum; Brighton Beach Memoirs; and Fiddler on the Roof.

Pierce teaches the following courses: Acting I and II, Advanced Acting, Media Ethics, Theatre History, Principles of Directing, and the “meeting” series class, an interdisciplinary class that studies and performs a different famous play, such as Macbeth, Antigone, and Much Ado About Nothing, each year. He stays active in community theatre also, having performed as a guest artist at Theatre Winter Haven and with the Imperial Symphony Orchestra as the narrator of Peter and the Wolf.
