Biography
Dr. Patty-Jeanne Slaughter brings a broad range of experience to Southeastern, with over a decade of teaching at various colleges and universities while also working as a licensed psychologist in community mental health centers, skilled nursing facilities, retirement communities, public schools, Head Start programs, churches, and private practice. Her specialty areas include play therapy, group therapy, pre-marital counseling, and psychological assessment.

Dr. Slaughter believes that a quality education is one that promotes the growth and development of the whole person, body, soul, and spirit. Her goal as an educator is to help train Christ-like professionals who have the ability to think critically, act responsibly, and serve consistently within the framework of a well-thought-out Christian worldview. She attempts to accomplish this goal via Christ-centered, student-focused instruction and mentorship.

Dr. Slaughter teaches the following courses: Foundations of Counseling, Introduction to Group Counseling, Group Dynamics, Abnormal Psychology, Statistics, Experimental Psychology, Marriage and Family, History and Systems of Psychology, Psychological Testing and Measurement, and Individual Assessment. Her research interests include leadership within group situations, self-esteem development, and group dynamics/group counseling.
