Biography
Marleen Milner brings to Southeastern twenty years of experience in a variety of fields of social work practice, including child welfare, child sexual abuse treatment, adoption, substance abuse treatment, and community mental health. In 2000, Milner became the Director of the fledgling Social Work Program at Southeastern, developing the curriculum and successfully leading the program through the Council on Social Work Education accreditation process. Furthermore, Milner has been as successful in the classroom as in her administrative duties, having been nominated to Who’s Who Among American Teachers in 2004 and having received Southeastern's nomination for the Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Technology award in 2006.

Milner has served as president of the Florida chapter of North American Christians in Social Work (NACSW) and currently is in her fourth year on the Board of Directors of NACSW. Her passion is to prepare students to “be salt” as they carry God’s love to a hurting world in their role as professional social workers.

Milner teaches the following courses: Introduction to Social Work, Field Observation in the Social Services, Building Effective Helping Skills, Social Work Practice I, Social Work Practice II, Understanding Human Diversity, and Integrating Faith and Social Work Theory and Practice. Her research interests include critical thinking, student diversity, and faith integration.
