Biography
Dr. Ken Myers has been the cornerstone and driving force of the history department since he came to Southeastern in 2003.  Before coming to Florida, he spent seven years as an assistant professor of history at Rockingham Community College in Wentworth, North Carolina. Myers has also taught as an adjunct instructor at such institutions as Oklahoma City Community College, Elon University, and Greensboro College. Prior to moving to higher education, he also gained a number of years of experience teaching at the secondary level.

Myers has presented papers at a number of academic conferences and has overseen research projects both in North Carolina and Florida. In addition, he has led a number of study abroad groups to Europe.

Dr. Myers teaches the following courses: Western Civilization I and II, American History I and II, The U.S. Since 1945, The Gilded Age and Progressive Era, The United States 1917-1945, and Historiography. His research interests include cultural shift in 20th-century America, postmodernism, the relationship between religion and politics in America, popular culture in America from 1960 to 1980, and the United States in the context of Western civilization.
