VISION & INTEGRITY
To become a leader in the business world, you need knowledge and skills, certainly. But at Southeastern, we believe God calls us to bring more to the table. Morals. Compassion. Wisdom. And, most importantly, faith.

Finance is a vocation that requires vision–the ability to look ahead, to set goals for the future and to meet them. But not at any cost, and not unethically. We believe that the best business leaders draw upon their knowledge, creativity, and faith to put their vision into action, with integrity. And whether you’re counseling a family planning for their child’s college education, moving a non-profit toward financial stability, or helping a company expand its reach, as a Christian in finance, the way you do business can–and most assuredly will–change the lives of companies and individuals.

A FIRM FOUNDATION
Southeastern’s finance program begins with our Christ-centered liberal arts (general education) core curriculum, where you develop an understanding and appreciation of God and His creation, human creativity and reason, and our place of responsibility as stewards in the world God has made.

Within the finance major itself, our approach to the subject is current and hands-on, so that you have the practical expertise you need to succeed in the day-to-day operations of your chosen business environment. And because our approach is also biblical, you gain a deep understanding of the moral and ethical implications of the decisions you make as a financial expert–and as a Christian.

ABOVE & BEYOND
At Southeastern, we believe that God calls us, as Christians, to go above and beyond the status quo, to strive too for excellence in all areas of our lives, particularly in academics. To that end, the finance major at Southeastern requires more than traditional finance majors at many colleges and universities. You also learn about the different areas of finance–corporate finance, investments, financial markets, real estate, and insurance–so you have the information to judge where your talents may be best employed.

While you’re at Southeastern, you can gain experience through internships at brokerage firms, insurance companies, financial institutions, and a variety of corporations. There are also many community service and missions opportunities for finance majors, which allow you to use your expertise to help churches and other non-profit organizations.

“We have all seen too many examples of corporate greed in recent years, from illegal activities at Enron and WorldCom to insider trading and manipulating stock options for personal gain. Now, especially, it is extremely important to develop Christian leaders who bring a strong commitment to ethical behavior, in addition to professional skills, to the corporate marketplace.”
– Dr. Lyle Bowlin, Professor of Finance
