NUMBERS & VALUES
Accounting is more than numbers. Behind every column of figures, there are people who can be affected, as we witness every time another corporate scandal breaks.

At Southeastern, we believe that, as Christians, we are called to do business differently. To us, the best accountants are the sum of many parts. A good accountant, while certainly an expert with numbers, is also honest. Accurate. Fair. And in possession of an unshakable moral and ethical foundation, faithfully adhering both to professional standards and to the standards of Christ. Because numbers may be easily manipulated, values shouldn’t be.

CLASSROOM & COMMUNITY
Southeastern’s accounting program begins with our Christ-centered liberal arts (general education) core curriculum, where you develop an understanding and appreciation of God and His creation, human creativity and reason, and our place of responsibility as stewards in the world God has made. Within the accounting major itself, our approach to the subject is current and hands on, so that you have the practical knowledge you need to succeed in the business world. Our approach is also biblical, because we want you to understand the moral and ethical implications of your professional and personal decisions.

The College of Business and Legal Studies makes every effort to stay connected to the local business community–so when it’s time for you to take your knowledge beyond the classroom, there are abundant opportunities for you to make contact with local leaders. Community service projects, internships, externships, and class projects allow you to get out there and gain experience. While you’re learning, you’re also using your expertise to make meaningful contributions to local organizations, from business to churches to non-profit agencies.

WHAT'S NEXT?
By the time you complete your accounting degree at Southeastern, you’re prepared to pass the CPA, CMA, or other professional licensing examinations; you’re also ready to undertake graduate study in business, should you choose. Southeastern graduates are sought-after employees, too. Positions obtained by recent graduates include:

• Accountants at local firms, non-profit organizations and government agencies
• Auditor at CPA firm
• Church business officer
• Staff accountant at publicly traded firm
